RHS 31, Muskegon 34

Rockford loses a heartbreaker in a double overtime thriller against Muskegon. At the half, the score was tied 14 to 14. In the first half, Rockfored had touchdown runs of 6 yards (Drew Powell) and 1 yard (Nate Teft). Eric Ledbetter added 2 PAT's. The Rockford "D" had a blocked PAT, an interception (Matt White), and a fumble recovery (Derek Donley). Muskegon added a late 2nd quarter touchdown and converted a 2 point play before the half to tie it up.

In the 3rd quarter, Rockford jumped out to a 21 to 14 lead on a 32 yard touchdown play (Fussee lateraled to Nezwek; then Nezwek threw the touchdown pass to Erik Hansen). On the next series for Muskegon, Matt DeGraaf recovered a fumble for Rockford, but Muskegon intercepted a Ram pass on the very next play. The Big Reds went on to score and tie the game at 21 - 21 earlyl in the 4th quarter. Both defenses stepped up the rest of the quarter and the game went into overtime.

In overtime, Muskegon scored first to take a 28 - 21 lead. Rockford scored on its first play to tie it back up at 28 - 28 on a 15 yd reception by Staley from Fussee. In double overtime, the Rams took the ball first and had to settle for a tough 29 yard fg by Eric Ledbetter. The Ram defense stopped the Big Reds and forced a 4th and goal from the one. Muskegon went for the touchdown and just barely broke the goal line for a game winning touchdown. This was a tough loss, but both teams played a fair, hard-fought game.
