while looking thru this website...I realized that it has much talent behind it but it really needs something about cheerleaders! I babysit for sooo many kids and most of the time they go to the games to see the cheerleaders cheering the guys on! I know sometimes we may seem annoying but it is our sport and we love seeing the guys succeed as much as you do! So give us some support! GO RAMS!

Unfortunitly I'm out with a pulled hip-flexor, but I'm gonna try the possible to play to enjoy hitting ur QB and digging his face mask in the dirt! But if not, oh well, my teamates will! Well good luck this season and like i said may the best team win! -Ryan-

WE WANT ROSENBERG!! WE WANT ROSENBERG!! WE WANT ROSENBERG!! Quickly, appease the masses Munger! A riot is building and their fire will not be quelched unless #24 ROSENBERG IS PUT IN THE GAME!! Come on, all I ask is like one drive. You missed your primetime to do it at Holland (which was an instant win), but there is still time! Just curious to know why the first playoff game is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00pm instead of Friday evening? There will be a town full of young football players and their families who will miss either part or all of the game. It would be understandable if Muskegon was making an extended road trip, but this is not the case.

Thanks for your reply.

Just a note about the East Kentwood - RHS rivalry.. ask anybody from the class of '72 about the start of that rivalry.. 1971 final OK-RED game of the season both teams undefeated in league.. Kentwood storms to a 13-0 halftime lead and Rockford fights back in the second half to take a 14-13 lead then Kentwood scores with :32 left in the game to win 20-14.. largest crowd I ever saw at the old stadium that night.. and only Rockford's second year in the Class A OK-RED ( we don't want to talk about the first year ). That was one of the greatest games I ever saw. Nice website.. thanks for the work.

This was something that I will never forget. Rockford football was the greatest thing ever to happen to me. I may have been embarraseed at Roscommen you know what seniors but I wouldn't have it anyother way. I am so mad at my self for not always tring my hardest at practice, it goes by so fast. i have no bumps and brusies which may sound like a good thing but do I ever wish that now I had. If I had tried harder in practice , would we have been a better team? I have to live with this for the rest of my life. I have never cried in all my life like I cried on Saterday. It wasn't the loss to Muskegon that hurt, it was the feeling of never putting the pads and the jersey on again. No more weightlifting (or why should I bother) If I worked my legs harder, could I have made the team better? I could go on forever, but I know you all think the same football was my life and I have it no more. It was the funnest time ever, cya soon Former #64 Chris Zuyddyk

Yesterday, we lost. I cannot tell you how much that hurts. It seems that the last 9 years of work towards this year and the playoffs all ended yesterday. I am not happy with how our season ended, I am not happy with how I played in the final game of my LIFE. Yesterday was the end. I love football and yet I cannot believe that I will never get another opportunity to play in front of 10,000 people at "The Ted". Its amazing, and without all of you to support us it wouldnt be the same. To all my teammates that I have played this great game with over the years I thank you very much. Each one of you has a special spot in my heart forever. To all the juniors, good luck next year, you have all impressed me so much this year, I know you will be successful. This team was amazing, I honestly dont know of one person on it that I wouldnt consider a friend. I will never forget all the great times we had on and off the field. Thanks guys, this has been the greatest 9 years of my life. -Zack Rodgers

Rams,

Congratulations on a great season. Even though you came up short on saturday, you guys played like champions right until the very end. You all showed sportsmanship and class in every game as you achieved your conference title. Be proud to be a part of such a successful program. Kelley and the other seniors, good luck to you all in the future.

I think the team had an awesome season. It sucks that they aren't going on because of a bad call that the ref. made. I think since it was such a big decision they shouldn't have ran off the field so fast. I have never seen such an awesome TEAM. you guys played so well together! good luck next year

I would like to congratulate the football players on such an awesome season! I love seeing you guys. I only ask you all one thing, have you thanked the cheerleaders? you may not know but they have worked so hard for you guys. they also practiced all summer, and every week they stay after just so you guys have a sign to run through that friday. and I know girls who spend at least 2 hours on your locker signs. They work hard for you! just remenber when the whole crowed is booing or just sitting there your cheerleaders are the only ones that keep cheering you on. So when you see them in the hall just say THANKS.

Great year gentlemen! It is just wrong the way that things turned out for your team. The game with Muskegon should never have gone to the second overtime, because of the push-off on our DB, and then in the second, there was not a touchdown. The Muskegon running back never got the ball across the line. It is one thing to lose the game outright. It is another to have it taken from you in the way that it was done to you. You have nothing to hang your heads about! Going through the OK Red undefeated is a major accomplishment. You carried yourselves with class, and for that we as a community are proud of you. Congratulations again.

Well, it's the Wednesday after our Muskegon loss and we still have the biggest empty feeling ever. It is difficult to feel so bad and yet, at the same time, feel so proud of the team. The whole team. Not just those who played alot, but everyone who pushed and worked so hard throughout the season. I agree with so many others that a couple questionable calls late in the game ended our season early. Especially to the players, it certainly doesn't seem fair! But, do you know what? Life is often unfair! Learn what you can from the experience. Treasure the memories. Grow and mature as young men. I doubt many can miss this senior group as much as we will. We want to thank everyone involved in what I call "The Program". The Coaches, all the players, cheerleaders & band, concession and committee volunteers plus everyone else in our community who really makes Rockford Football Rock! Again, so proud of the whole team and especially our son, #22. You had a great career ... did an awesome job ... worked very hard, and I'm so happy that you had the opportunity to enjoy the experience. We love you and WE LOVE ROCKFORD FOOTBALL!

I would just like to start out by saying that you all played great this season. I know that all of you football players are sick of thing like "sorry it ended this way", or "you guys should have one" so I am not going to say it. But I am going to say that being a girl from a family of mostly guys I can see how much this hurt all of you. If I could I would have gone down there and gave you all hugs... but being guys you wouldn't have wanted that. So, I am going to end my comments by saying great job this year seniors (and juniors [10th grade rick palm]) It hurts so much to see you seniors walking around like the world ended last saturday. I still look up to all of you being a senior myself. You all did great. ps. #1- you will always be #1 and I know that with your smile and your personality you can go anywhere in life! Remember that #69- you and your brothers are some of the smartest guys I know... you have the chance to do anything and go anywhere... represent rockford for ever because you are the best example. #9- I have only had one class with you (US History with coach) but I know that you are a smart guy who can come up with anything at the last moment... you will do a great job after highschool #88- you played your heart out this year and you did great. You are loved by many people and you will have your dreams. You are such and outgoing person and I know that with your heart set on your dreams you will make it happen. #12- too bad you gave up just before your last game... you could have been a part of the dream. Don't give up on everything in life. #55- YOu are the most interesting person I know and I love it! You should never change and never take to heart what people think about the way you dress. (the abercrombie preps) I love that you have a great personality on the inside and you love to show it on the outside. You are a great guy Zane! #35- Sam, do'nt be too mad and try to go kill a few ref's or anything... you are a great guy and I can't wait to hang out with you throughout life.

You guys are all great, be happy and remember that I still love you.!!!

First and foremost, Congratulations to the 2001 ROCKFORD RAMS! 9-0 Undisputed OK RED CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!

I think the article in the GR Press by Jane Bos fairly well summed up the 2001 campaign:

"The gray sky overhead matched the mood of the eight Rockford football players kneeling on the black and orange "R" at midfield Saturday afternoon."

"Season over. It hurt—"

And what impressed me more about the article was the comment from the Muskegon coach:

"See that?" said Muskegon coach Tony Annese, pointing to the kneeling Rams. "I wish our guys would see that. They have no concept of what kind of tradition it takes to feel that."

Tradition is what ROCKFORD FOOTBALL is all about. Being an alumni (we won't mention the year...), I have suffered through the miserable seasons and celebrated the outstanding seasons--just as all RAMS fans have.

I know that the past three seasons my son has suited up in the Varsity uniform--beginning with the play-offs in 1999, he and his team mates have made RAMS fans proud to say they were from Rockford!

For many of the Seniors, Saturday will have been the final chapter--the last time they will put on the pads--thus ending their football careers. For some, this is just another pause between seasons as they prepare for their college careers.

To all the 2001 ROCKFORD RAMS--be proud, hold your heads high! Your accomplishments far outweigh the disappointments. This was a life lesson--and life is not always fair. Learn from it.

To the Coaching Staff: Coach Munger, you and your staff gave us plenty of excitement this year and we look forward to many more years of outstanding RAMS football.

To Rick Lavern, webmaster for RockfordFootball.com: A special thank you for you outstanding site! This is by far the most impressive High School football site on the WWW. Your hard work and dedication don't go unnoticed or unappreciated. Thank you again and keep up the great work!

Finally, to my son: #65--the heart of the Defensive Line: Words cannot adequately express the pride and love we, (yes, even your little brother), have for you. Since that day in Singapore so many years ago when you said you wanted to play football--you have always "left it on the field--heart and soul." Hold your head high--YOU ARE A ROCKFORD RAM!

p.s. now get off you butt and start filling in those college applications and scholarship forms...and 11:30 means 11:30!

GO RAMS!!!

Yesterday we played with heart and emotion. We walked out on the field hand-in-hand, we were look at as heros to the kids, the fans, and most importantly our parents. We formed a bond that nobody can break. We went through hell and back for not only ourselfs but for every single individual on the team. TEAM is what we formed, we brought it together and amazed everone, but not ourselves. We knew we could it and we knew it had to be done together. We did something that not many do....9-0

Today we walked out on to the field as someone who knew the season could end in the blink of an eye. We played with heart and emotion and left nothing on the field, we just couldn't finish, something coach talks about all the time. We looked at the scoreboard and it said Muskegon more than Rockford, and it hurt. That was it, it was over for 32 of us and over for 8 months for the rest. I never cried so hard in my life but I looked around and saw many others. I cried for everything that I had put in and everything that I lost. Even though we lost I wouldn't have traded antthing else to be a RAM. We left all of it on the field that day and even our hearts. We still walked off that that field as heros and always... RAMS

Tomorrow hurt, it hurt more than anything but there was nothing that we could have done. The tears still role down my face when I think of everthing that I lost, a family. We must forget tomorrow, as hard as that may sound, and build on things from the past. We will all go on and forget the hurt but we will never forget the memories that we have made. Dont ever forget "WE ARE A TEAM"

Men I will never forget a single one of you and I love you guys. We were the best, not only the best alone but more important together! I'm proud of everthing we have acomplished and you will always have a place in my heart. RAM PRIDE

Well, first you gotta say thank-you to the fans. I know when we come out onto the field, and I look up unto the stands, I never get tired of seeing so many people out to support us. Saturday is something that will stick with us for a very long time. And although we left the field feeling as if something was missing, we did leave the field as a TEAM, and that is something that nobody can take from us. This year has tought me so much about teamwork, and what it takes to get that W on your record. It's not about how good you play as an individual, or how good your stats are, it's how bad you want to win it for your team and nobody else. Saturday was very dissapointing, and everytime I hear something about it, I just close my eyes and shake my head, but throughout all of this, I know that the Rockford Ram 2001 Football team became a family this season, and nothing will ever take that away.

Thanks Guys for the memories and the great season, and to the seniors for such great leadership and demonstration on what it takes to win. And to the juniors, 2 words...NEXT SEASON!

it is mid-day saturday and it still hurts to know that we should be playing right this very second. not only that but we should be up in the forth quarter and soon to be division champs. well it isnt going to happen, and it is a fact that we all have to come to grips with and go from here. To our captains, brett and joe, everyone has known for a long time that you two would be our captains. You not only led us on the feild , but we also look up to both of you as human beings. to the fam-i-ly, it has been a lot of fun with you guys this year, one on ones, all the fat man contests, inside jokes, and sheer gluteny that was our offensive and defensive line outside of practice, ill miss all of you. to the few backs and recievers i had to pleasure of getting to know or to talk to i wont forget you either.to the coaches, thank you for pushing me further than i ever thaught i could go in conditioning, and coach kory thanks for helping me with my technique, when i started my high school career on jv. i had no clue what i was doing, now i leeve on second string and after rotating as a starter for a few games, thanks, and to the fans...i never knew how much fans meant to players all my life of watching rockford football, until now. you guys are awesome. to the parents of the players who come home soar everyday and help us through our bad moods, bruises, and endless appatites, thanks to you, with out you we wouldnt be here. thanks to everyone for all the memories. good luck in life to the seniors. zane ziviski

Dear Rams, It's been two weeks now and we are all beginning to heal and go on with our lives. There are so many great memories from this season that we can all treasure and be thankful for. All of the heart stopping games that our Rockford boys played their hearts out in. The friendships that were formed during two-a-days, football moms classes, spaghetti dinners, spirit committee, memory book, and concessions. All of the time that our coaches and our boys put in to be a united team for our Rockford Community. You have done what no other O.K.Red team could do. Finish the seasom UNDEFEATED. What an accomplishment. We are so proud of all your accomplishments in athletics, academics, and your sportsmanship, both on and off the field. Thank you for all the great memories. Thank you for giving Joe the honor to be a co-captain for such a great group of young men. To the seniors, good luck with all of your future goals and dreams. To the Juniors-next year at the Ted. I still sit here and think of what could went right and what went wrong and it still frustraits me so much. I hope that all of you Juniors relize how much it hurts not to be able to walk out on the field. You might not think its special but when its all over it will be differernt. I hope you relize how lucky you are to have the coaches, the fan, and your parents to support you. Good luck nect year and I will remember all of you.

I love Rockford!!!!!! They won the OK Red, and I wish they could still be in the playoffs. Since Rockford isn't in the playoffs, Grandville will represent the ok-red as best we can.

Well ... I'm still not over our season being over. Hey Joe, Brett, Erik, Ry, Kelly, Trav, Dust, Steve, Baron, Nate,Jesse, Pete, Matt W, Matt D, Sam, Dan, Ryan H, Drew, Andy, Zane, Tyler, Ben, Zack, Chris, Bruce, Jeremy, Brad, Rick, Nick, RJ and Adam ... (I think that's all the Seniors) ... Why don't all of you crash one of Michigan's great Division III schools, together! I'd make every game! Take care, all of you. Thanks for the memories!

First off I'd like to congradulate the entire team on a great season. Next, i would like to thank the seniors for a great season and we will miss all you guys. Next year we won't take nuthin from no one and will win conference again and WE WILL go farther in the playoffs that's a promise. I can't wait until next year when i run out onto THE TED i will be thinking of all the players that have done it before me and will take it personally to win for them, the team, and the community. We all deserve it, with everything we've put into it. Well but the buck peace out.

I miss the thrill you guys, I miss the excitement of Fridays and the tension that runs through the school... The whispers that ran through the halls, "You going to the game tonight? It's gonna be an awesome one..." It is too bad that this beginning of a football dynasty had to be ended so quickly... You guys did awesome out there every week and you represent Rockford well... Instead of throwing fits, you guys except defeat with poise and dignity. Congrats on an awesome regular season!

Uh-hmm... By the way, WRESTLING IS BACK!!!

Well, how many weeks has it been, and it still hurts to see our boys hurting. For many of them they probably feel it was the worst day of their young lives to date. And for us it hurts because we can't 'fix' it - they are men, not our little boys anymore, and they have to deal with it their own way. #30 is finally relieved that Grandville is out of it and no one connect to OK Red or Muskegon is going to the dome for Div. 1. But we still can't really talk about it in our house. Team, sometimes life is sad, hard, or unfair. Life isn't so much what happens TO YOU, but what YOU DO WITH THAT LIFE EXPERIENCE. So, next year's team - take this aching feeling and do something with it. Set your goals for next season and work hard, just like the 2001 Rams did. Let it be the fire in you. Seniors - same for you. You can let it eat you up, or you can turn it into something positive. Sadly in your futures, there may be times that will be as difficult, or even more difficult than this. Remember the strength of being a TEAM and how Coach Munger and the rest of the staff taught you to deal with adversity. We are so proud of the 2001 RAMS. We loved every moment in the stands. You made every game exciting. Thank you for the memories. We are proud beyond words of the OK RED UNDISPUTED CHAMPIOS. RAM PRIDE!

I would just like to say good job this year rams. You guys had a truly great year and i know you hear it all the time but u guys really did have a great season. Not a day goes by that I dont think about what coulda happened if we won that game and im sure it hrst you guys ten times more than it does me. I will never foget that day that muskegon beat us. I was in total shock, I was waiting for me to wake up suddenly like it was just a bad dream, but it wasn't. It also hurt me seeing my brother crying and then I realized how much it really meant to him and how much he had put in to football. I will never forget the hug he gave me after the game. I wished i could have done something to comfort him but i couldn't and it was hard to just sit back and let time heal his wounds. But since that day it has become my motivation to get better at all i do and to never take things for granted. I cant wait till next year when i can put on that jersey and step out on to the ted with the thousands of screaming fans. It will be dream come true and I get excited just thinking about it. Next year we will be ready to go at it agian and to defent the OK RED title. O'rourke can' wait to be out there with ya, and Donley take it easy on me in "reach out and touch someone". And excellent job this year guys. Love ya #5 and #1.

Dear Rams: You guys played a great season. You came out of the regular season with a 9-0 record and the champs of one of the toughest conference's in the state. Who would have thought that Rockford would lose to Muskegon and have us go on to defeat Muskegon in the next game. Good luck next year. I know that we won't be on eachother's good side's in the regular season, but still, good luck.

I would like to express my overwhelming thanks to all fans and parents that make rockford football what it is. i cannot begin to thank you enough for all you did throughout the season for us. I will never take 12,000 people in the TED for granted. Rockford truly has the most loyal fan base in the state. Thank you. And to the coaches i would like to tell you how much i appreciate what you did for myself and the team. I have never respected a group of men as much as i do you. And to my teammates i would like to thank you for one of the greatest times in my life and some of the best memories possible. I will never forget any of you and to sniper #64 you are the perfect example of a team player and i would like to thank you for showing me a way to be a better team mate.

Thank you everyone, Nick Drury #74

After two weeks without Munger's class, It is finally starting to sink in that my football is over forever. Its too bad I really enjoyed spending each day with all my teammates even after the season came to an end. I just wanted to stop and drop a line to all of you guys to keep working hard. You guys should be great next season. Above all else keep the tradition alive, lead and set the example for the upcoming juniors. Show them what it means to be a rockford ram on and off the field. Carry on the traditions that were passed on to us from those that came before us.
