Rockford runs away with a 23-6 victory over Utica Eisenhower in a cross-state football matchup

Darian Vaughn carries the load for Rockford in a 23-6 win against Utica Eisenhower in a non-league football opening game Friday. Rockford High School Football running back Darian Vaughn carried the ball 21 times for 158 yards, including a 24 yard dash late as the Rams pulled away late to beat host Utica Eisenhower 23-6 in front of a packed house Friday night.

After going 10-3 the previous season and allowing just under 13 points a game, the visitors were led by 5 returning starters on defense including AP All-state Linebacker Brett Showers and linebacker Randy Garvin.
