Rockford 40, Holt 28: Delayed a day, Rockford comes back to win

The Rockford football team trailed 20-14 at halftime on Friday when the game was postponed due to thunder and lightning, but the Rams rallied and defeated Holt 40-28 when play resumed on Saturday.

"(Those were) tough circumstances," Rockford coach Ralph Munger said. "Last night we didn't leave the locker room until after midnight, and for us to get on the busses and head back today I thought our kids showed great resolve. It was a hard-fought game."

Junior Tyler Bradford carried three times for 26 yards and a score, and also impacted the game defensively and on special teams. "Tyler had a great night," Munger said. "He blocked the extra point right in the beginning, had a couple outstanding runs and an outstanding return." Jake Sendzik rushed 17 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns, and Chris Bell carried nine times for 54 yards and a score.

Holt's Trent Stone had a game-high 183 yards and three touchdowns, and Ryan Gray had four catches for 104 yards and a score. "Holt's game plan was really solid, but we identified some areas of our defense that we need to shore up," Munger said. "I'm proud of our offense for being able to sustain some long drives. "But it was a heck of a football game. We were just fortunate enough to make a few more plays than they did. It's just one of those games where we just kept plodding along on offense and defense hung around long enough to make a couple things happen, but we did have a lot of trouble slowing them down."
