East Kentwood 36, Rockford 3: Falcons defeat Rams for first time in 11 years

EAST KENTWOOD, MI — For the first time in 10 seasons, East Kentwood has defeated OK Red foe Rockford, beating the Rams 36-3 Friday. The Falcons’ defense was able to shut down the Rams by consistently stuffing the run while their offense controlled the clock.

Key to the Game

East Kentwood controlled the clock from the first quarter, taking up nearly eight minutes on their first drive, which resulted in a field goal.

East Kentwood Highlights
East Kentwood kicker Bryce Lovelace scored a field goal at 4:50 in the first quarter to make the score Falcons 3, Rams 0. On the first play of the second quarter, East Kentwood's Quantayvious Totten caught a touchdown pass. The PAT was blocked, making the score 9-0. With 5:16 left in the first half, Falcons quarterback Kyle Friberg charged into the end zone for another score. The Falcons added the extra point to put East Kentwood up 16-0. East Kentwood's Michael Ivy ran 27 yards for a touchdown with 8:04 left in the third quarter to move his team up 22-3 on Rockford. He later added two more touchdowns, including one from 35 yards out.

Rockford Highlights
Rockford's Quinn Nordin kicked a field goal for the Rams to get them on the board just before halftime. It ended up being Rockford's only score in a long night.
